Digital Strategy

Today, digitalisation is less about ambition and more about governance. Many organisations find themselves with complex technology landscapes that have evolved over time, making it difficult to make long‑term decisions.
At Kraftvaerk, we work with digital strategy as the link between business, technology, and organisation with a focus on clarity, direction, and a robust digital foundation.

Governance

For many organisations, digitalisation is no longer a question of ambition, but of governance. Most companies today operate within an extensive digital landscape made up of platforms, applications, data sources, and integrations that have been built up over many years through projects, vendor choices, and organisational decisions.

The result is often a complex technological infrastructure, where it can be difficult to maintain an overview, make long‑term decisions, and ensure that technology genuinely supports the company’s strategic objectives.

Digital foundation

At Kraftvaerk, we approach digital strategy as a discipline that connects business strategy, technology, and organisation. Our approach is based on the recognition that technology today is a central driver of competitiveness for businesses.

Therefore, digital strategy is not merely about selecting new platforms or implementing new systems, but about establishing a digital foundation that enables the organisation to continuously evolve.

Key challenges for businesses

En central udfordring for mange virksomheder er, at teknologiske beslutninger ofte træffes projekt for projekt.

  1. 1
Over time, this creates a landscape of solutions that do not necessarily fit together.
  2. 2
This can result in increased complexity, high operational costs, and reduced flexibility in addressing future change.
  3. 3
That is why we work to create structure and direction in the organisation’s technological development.

Enterprise architecture

An essential part of this work is the establishment of a clear enterprise architecture. We help organisations define the architectural principles that guide the development of their digital platforms. This may include, for example, principles for modular system architecture, API strategy, integration models, and data governance. The objective is to ensure that new solutions can be integrated into the organisation’s existing landscape without increasing complexity.

As companies move towards more modular technology landscapes, we also provide advisory services related to composable enterprise architecture.

In a composable organisation, digital solutions are built as a set of modular components that can be replaced and evolved independently of one another.

This gives organisations significantly greater flexibility and enables them to adapt to new technologies and market conditions without the need to replace entire platforms.

Platform strategy

Platform strategy is an important part of this transformation. Many organisations operate currently with a fragmented landscape of vendors and technologies, which can make it difficult to create coherence across systems and processes. We help companies analyse their existing platform landscape and identify opportunities for rationalisation and consolidation.

This may include evaluating CMS, commerce, data, and integration platforms, as well as assessing build vs. buy strategies.

In addition, we work with the establishment of governance structures that ensure technology development takes place in a controlled and strategic manner. This may include setting up architecture boards, processes for technology selection, and models for collaboration with external vendors.

Ongoing collaboration

In many organisations, we also act as an external architecture function. This means that we engage in an ongoing collaboration with the organisation’s technology leadership, helping to ensure that the development of digital platforms follows a clear strategic direction.

This may include quarterly architecture reviews, evaluation of technology roadmaps, vendor assessments, and advisory support related to major technology investments.

Digital organisation

The result is a digital strategy that goes beyond ambition and establishes a clear, practical foundation for the organisation’s technological development. A strategy that enables smarter technology decisions, reduces complexity, and builds a more flexible digital organisation.
